Create a stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

Unique Features of Blue Ox SwayPro

Blue Ox SwayPro Spring Bars

Unlike other weight distribution systems, the SwayPro has automatically locking brackets throughout. Both spring bars insert, slotted side up, into the head assembly and then lock securely in place. Removal is just as easy - simply lift the locking pins on the trunnions and slide the bars out. Blue Ox spring bars are interchangeable with each other. If you buy a new trailer or tow vehicle and you need to increase or decrease your capacity, you can simply buy new spring bars instead of purchasing a whole new system.

Blue Ox SwayPro Rotating Latch Brackets

Other systems have lift brackets that require you to apply a good amount of leverage to get them to snap up, which can be difficult and frustrating. With the SwayPro, all you have to do is insert the lift chain into the bracket slot and rotate the bracket with the included wrench until the lock pin engages.

Another feature of the SwayPro is the easy-to-use head. The required pitch is already built into the head, so the only adjustment that may be needed is the placement of the head on the shank. Move the head up or down along the weight distribution shank to achieve the proper height. No additional, fine-tune adjustment is needed, which means no hard-to-access washers or difficult-to-use thumbscrew.

Built-In Tension Stops Sway

Blue Ox SwayPro System with Built-In Sway Control Hooked Up

The SwayPro offers four points of built-in sway control. Within the head assembly, the trunnions are designed to hold the spring bars securely in position, placing just enough tension on them to cause them to constantly force your trailer in line. At the other end of this weight distribution system, the rotating brackets ensure that the lift chains are pulled as taut as possible. In addition, the basic design of the brackets keeps much of the length of the lift chains wrapped up inside of the brackets. Typically, only a couple of links hang down from each bracket. So each chain is held more stable than in traditional weight distribution systems, where more than twice as many links are exposed. This tight, stable design limits the movement of the spring bars so that they can exert more force on your trailer to effectively keep it from shifting side to side. Furthermore, unlike many friction-style sway controls, the SwayPro allows you to back up your trailer without having to remove or disengage the system.

SwayPro utilizes the latest in weight-distributing technology, with built-in sway control, to be the most user-friendly hitch on the market. The SwayPro is geometrically optimized and computer-designed to provide superior weight distribution and sway control without the need of friction or adjustment. With just one look at the SwayPro, you can see our commitment to quality and durability. SwayPro's innovative and unique features combine everything you're looking for in a weight-distribution hitch. Available in multiple tongue capacities, the SwayPro is the last hitch you will ever need to buy. Should you ever trade trailers, simply purchase the appropriate spring bars, and that's it.

There's no need to replace the entire hitch. The SwayPro truly is the pro when it comes to weight distribution and sway control. Each component of the SwayPro is designed with the user in mind. Let's start by examining the hitch head. The SwayPro hitch head is full of features you'll appreciate. The open design of the head allows for easy access to tighten the hitch ball.

No serrated washers, no cans, no shim packs, means a faster installation. Sway control is built into the head. No adjustments are needed. Unlike friction sway controls that only try to slow down the trailer wanting to sway and never return it to a straight line behind the tow vehicle, with the SwayPro's built-in sway control, the trailer is brought back to the center and keeps going straight. Once the trailer tries to sway from one side to another, it will load one bar more than the other, applying more pressure to that side, and making the trailer go back to its center position. This eliminates the need for the friction bolts, and results in a quiet and smooth ride.

Grease is captured inside the spring bar head to eliminate messy spring bar ends and the need for plastic bags to cover the bar. The hitch head can be moved up or down the hitch mount receiver with ease to lower or raise coupler height on the trailer. Next, let's look at the spring bars of the SwayPro. The round bars flex for optimal weight distribution and clearance. SwayPro's self-locking spring bars eliminate the need for additional pins and clips. Simply rotate the spring bar 90 degrees, and it automatically locks into place.

As mentioned earlier, you'll also notice there's no grease on the ends of the spring bars, thanks to our greaser. The deflection of the spring bars allows for a smoother, cushioned ride, and activates the sway control. Next, let's examine the Signature Series Rotating Latch. Most hitches on the market today utilize snap-up chain brackets, which allow the chain to sway freely. The Signature Series Rotating Latch brackets' wrap-around design secures the chain, eliminating sway. The Signature Series Latch not only allows you to hook up more quickly and with less hassle than traditional snap-up methods, but also allows you to back up without having to disconnect. The Signature Series Rotating Latch eliminates noise, and is quieter than other weight-distribution hitches. No banging and popping. Additionally, the Signature Series Latch provides the clearance necessary for enclosed trailer frames, propane bottles, and battery compartments, not available with snap-up brackets. Simply clamp or bolt the hitch to your trailer frame, place the chains into the latch, then rotate the latch with the latch tool until it self-locks into place. Bolt-on latches can be used if there is interference on top of the trailer tongue. To disconnect, pull out and release the bracket lock, rotate the latch with the latch tool, and remove the chains. It really is just that easy. There are two models of SwayPro available, one for standard trailer couplers and one specifically designed for under-slung couplers. Both are available with clamp-on and bolt-on latch options. The SwayPro has very little maintenance. It is the last weight-distributing hitch you will ever need. The SwayPro is easy to install, and there is no need to readjust the pitch. If you switch trailers, all you may need is new spring bars, not a new hitch. All those features in one hitch. No additional parts or options to purchase. Why trust an amateur, when you can go with the pro The SwayPro weight-distribution hitch from Blue Ox is so easy to use and adjust, you'll thank yourself every time you tow. .

Easy installation and a well thought out and made product.

This was the only hitch system that would work on my trailer. Jena at E-Trailer kept me informed about my order and it was as advertised on the website. Excellent company to purchase through.

Product works very well distributing weight and containing sway. Built very heavy duty. Powder coating chips off easily. Especially on edges of brackets. No instructions in box. I downloaded from manufacturers web site. Box that it was shipped in not strong enough for this much weight. Broke open in several spots. Thankfully nothing missing.

I bought the Blue Ox BXW1501 SwayPro to pull a 26ft car trailer that I normally haul 7-8000lbs. I was having issues with my trailer swaying at highway speeds when empty. The Blue Ox stopped the sway and smoothed out the ride when loaded. The only issue I have is that once you disconnect the trailer, the weight of hitch is pretty heavy and you cannot drive around with it in. I can carry it but is heavy. I would assume this is an issue with any sway bar set up, but just thought I would mention.

Finally got around to installing the Blue Ox Sway Pro hitch with bolt on chain latches. The process was straight forward after viewing youtube vids, taking time to be sure all my measurements were correct. With the bolt on chain latches you do not get many chances to get it right. I could not use clamp on as my V-nose RV did not have room above the frame to clear the clamp on latch.. drilling was a pain as clearances on my frame were tight and I had to go around a electrical junction box on the inside of the frame.. but once on, it was a breeze to set up. The overall quality of the hitch was great and I don't miss having to set the angle of the hitch head (it's fixed) making the only adjustments necessary was hitch height and chain length. I initially set mine up using 9 links on the chain, but once I got out on the road, I noted the RV was riding nose low so I went up to 10 links on the chain. Now the truck and RV are level, the truck rides and handles as I expected. I have not had the rig out on a long haul, so I can't comment about the sway control of the hitch.Truck is a 2013 Ford F150 ecoboost, max tow 3.73 gears, rv is a 6600lb (empty) V-nose 25ft toy hauler.

I like the chain latch set up. Easy to use especially on a V-nose trailer. The concept of sway control with the short length chain is feasible and after this week trip (with some interstate time), I will report back if it doesn't work as advertised.

All in all I am happy with the hitch and of course happy with the eTrailer purchasing process.

This usually happens when the release pins are pulled too hard. It does not take much to get the bar to release. We will be in touch about a replacement.
